Better than Paris: It all started with one small wooden cabin
The show filmed by BalkanTrip TV as part of the series Better Than Paris. It all started with one small, wooden cabin – Ethno Village Dolina Mira.

They’re writing about us: Ethno Village “Dolina mira” – an oasis for the eyes and soul.
In the area of the municipality of Pale, a new tourist attraction is available – Ethno Village “Dolina mira”, a perfect place for relaxation and recreation with accommodation facilities and rich gastronomic offerings.
“Dolina mira” is located just a few minutes’ drive from the center of Pale on the road to Jahorina.
Nada Rulj, the owner of the Ethno Village, told Srna that they got the idea for this complex about ten years ago when she and her husband wanted to build a small cabin where they could come with their children and spend leisure time.
“We started with one log cabin, then another, followed by two lakes. My husband is very innovative in building with wood and stone. That’s how we created an oasis of peace and realized the dream we now live,” says Nada.
Every year they did something, and there were times when they paused because there were no people to implement their ideas, as well as due to financial resources. All the while, working on the complex, they enjoyed it, although it was sometimes physically and mentally exhausting.
Nada notes that the lake is stocked with carp, and they have a mill, drying shed, restaurant, and apartments that are authentically designed, providing a complete tourist-hospitality offer.
“We have been living here for the past five years; our house is nearby. We came to spend the weekend, and we stayed for five years. Here, in ‘Dolina mira’, we take better care of each other, spend more time outdoors, walking,” emphasizes Nada Rulj.
In the “Dolina mira” complex, there is also a restaurant with an open fireplace, which can accommodate 100 people, and the construction of a fireplace room is underway, so the restaurant will have a capacity of up to 150 seats.
Guests also have accommodation facilities available, about 50 beds, as well as two large gardens that were filled in the summer.
This place and the environment are such that good food should be eaten, and the dishes are homemade and traditional.
In the Ethno Village “Dolina mira”, there are also facilities for the youngest – from a playground to a seesaw, but most of them are fascinated by animals: geese, ducks, goats, chickens, roe deer, and deer that freely roam around.
People have recognized peace, good service, and offerings in everything. Many are impressed by the “scent of silence” that pervades the “Dolina mira”.
In addition to hospitality, there are many other amenities ideal for a perfect vacation in nature and relaxation, and the entire complex is surrounded by nature and exudes an ethno-ambient.
Visitors can enjoy beautiful forest trails that are marked because Pale has something to offer for tourism. They also offer quad biking services and bicycle rentals in the complex.
“The coronavirus has awakened in all of us the forgotten need to be outdoors, to walk, and enjoy nature. During the coronavirus, dozens of people walked on our beautiful forest trails. I hope people will continue with this trend and spend much more time in nature,” emphasizes Nada Rulj.
Nada points out that they are thinking of expanding accommodation capacities next year, and perhaps building smaller apartments.
